Oh my goodness! What a stunningly beautiful day it was for the 2017 edition of the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre Marathon and Relay. And such a contrast to last year’s brutal arctic temps. No frozen GatorAde spigots or banana hammers this year! We are shooting for, and will cap at, 1,000 runners for Massacre in 2018. I think that is about all Country Park can handle!

I guess I should knock on wood or hope my favorite teams keep losing in championship games. My “Sweet Home” Alabama Crimson Tide lost a heartbreaker to Clemson, and then we had truly spectacular running weather for the Big Beach Marathon in Gulf Shores, AL. Next, my Atlanta Falcons broke out the cases of Choke-A-Cola in the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl and let Darth Brady and the evil New England Patriots pull out a miracle. Then lo and behold, we have awesome weather for the Massacre. I guess I should hope for the Hawks and Braves to have great seasons then lose dramatically in the playoffs!

While we are already a month and a half into the new year, I wanted to thank all of the Triad (and beyond) runners for supporting Junction 311 in 2016. Each and every one of you make Junction 311 Endurance Sports possible. Yes I have a great team, we work our asses off, and I think we do a pretty damn good job, but we don’t exist without you, our runners and friends. We have such a great time putting on the events for you. Thank you!

We have come out of the blocks pretty fast in 2017 and are looking forward a great year. Elaine, I and our team invite you to join and continue with us on this adventure we call Junction 311 Endurance Sports, Where Running and Fun Meet!
